Inspired by Flowerbomb

Inspired by Flowerbomb is Match Fragrances' budget reading of Viktor & Rolf's 2005 Flowerbomb, the Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaim, Dominique Ropion and Domitille Bertier sweet-floral composition that became Viktor & Rolf's commercial flagship. Match's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid: tea, bergamot and osmanthus on top, a jasmine-rose-orchid-freesia heart, and a patchouli-vanilla-musk base. The first hour is the strongest match: tea and osmanthus lift soft with bergamot adding citrus, and the trademark sweet-floral impression arriving within minutes. By the heart the jasmine and rose bloom together with orchid and freesia building the lush floral bouquet. The dry-down trades on patchouli as the anchor with vanilla adding gourmand-warm depth and musk rounding the close. Performance is the budget compromise: four to six hours of moderate sillage. The character is sweet-floral-patchouli feminine, with spring, autumn and date the natural seasons. The honest caveat: at fifty millilitres for under thirty pounds, the V&R's polished sweet-floral depth is softened here. Sits next to other budget sweet-floral dupes in the dupe-house neighbourhood, while the original sits with Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, YSL Mon Paris, and the broader sweet-floral designer-feminine conversation.
