Rome 32 draws on Valentino's Donna Born in Roma, a modern floriental known for its trio of jasmine notes over a cashmeran-vanilla base. The dupe strips the composition down to three main pillars - jasmine sambac, guaiac wood and bourbon vanilla - and while that simplification loses some of the original's opening complexity, particularly the juicy blackcurrant and pink pepper spark that gives Born in Roma its edgy first impression, the jasmine-vanilla heart still reads recognisably similar. The guaiac wood stands in for the original's cashmeran and vetiver base, giving a comparable woody-sweet warmth without quite the same sophisticated depth. Performance is moderate, with the jasmine holding through the first few hours before softening into a gentle vanilla-wood skin scent. It's a fair everyday option for the general Born in Roma mood - feminine, warm, a little edgy - without expecting the full layered development of the Valentino original. Works well for daytime wear where a softer floral is welcome.
