Xerjoff 'Ilm is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2023, created by Chris Maurice. 'Ilm opens with Balsam, Sandalwood, and Oud, settles into a heart of Cedar, Oakmoss, and Ambergris, and dries down to a base of Amber. Xerjoff's 'Ilm carries an Acquired verdict, an amber-led wear.

'Ilm is a wild ride, a proper beast for oud lovers that polarises opinion. Some find it a tame, almost fruity oud, while others find it aggressively animalic-and-challenging. Definitely not for beginners, but those with an 'acquired taste' will find it intriguing.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

A cold-weather scent - best worn in autumn and winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

Given its strong, animalic oud profile, 'Ilm is too bold for an office setting. It's best suited for formal evenings or dates where its unique character can make a statement, though some find it light enough for casual wear. Its animalic leanings make it completely unsuitable for sport.

About

This is oud, loud and proud, right from the first sniff. The initial hit is pure Laotian oud with its distinct animalic and woody nuances. As it settles, you get hints of a creamy sandalwood and the resinous warmth of gurjun balsam. Cedar and oakmoss emerge in the heart, adding an earthy, almost mossy depth. It’s a linear scent, all about that powerful oud, with a golden amber holding court in the dry down.
