From her work with Comme des Garçons, Chapuis is associated with abstract, conceptual compositions that mix synthetic and natural notes. Odeur 53 and Odeur 71 use unconventional accords (metallic, mineral, photocopier, and watery-woody effects) to create non-traditional, anti-perfume structures, while Tea in Series 1: Leaves focuses on a transparent, leafy tea accord with airy woods and watery facets.
Anne-Sophie Chapuis is a French perfumer based in the Greater Paris region. She studied perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles from 1989 to 1991, then joined International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in April 1992, where she is a Senior Perfumer. Chapuis is best known for her work with Comme des Garçons: alongside Martine Pallix she co-composed the avant-garde fragrances Odeur 53 (1998) and Odeur 71 (2000). She also created Tea in Comme des Garçons’ Series 1: Leaves collection. Other credited work includes Cerise Bigarreau, and various projects listed in databases such as Parfumo and Wikiparfum.
