O Boticário
Frequently works with natural and botanical materials, particularly in his creations for Abel, which focuses on 100-percent-natural perfumes. His time in Brazil broadened his use of tropical fruit facets, exploring nuanced differences between ingredients such as guava, cocoa and cashew apple. He often draws conceptual parallels between composing fragrances and composing music, layering accords with a focus on clarity and balance.
Isaac Sinclair (born c.1980) is a New Zealand perfumer and one of the few Australasian master perfumers. Originally from Auckland, he left New Zealand to study the five senses at L’Università dell’Immagine in Milan on a scholarship sponsored by Dragoco (now Symrise), while working as a marketing trainee in Dragoco’s Paris office. He later trained as a perfumer at Symrise in Paris, studying under Françoise Marin and being mentored day to day by Bernard Ellena, before becoming assistant perfumer to Symrise master perfumer Maurice Roucel. Sinclair has worked in Paris, Germany and Brazil, and has been based for many years in São Paulo as a master perfumer for Symrise, creating fragrances for brands such as Guerlain, DKNY, Lancôme, L’Oréal and Brazilian house Natura. He is also closely associated with the natural niche brand Abel, founded by fellow New Zealander Frances Shoemack.
