About

Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud is a renowned French perfumer born in Grasse, France, into a family of perfumers dating back to the 15th century. His immersion in the world of fragrance began early, working as a temp in Grasse’s perfume industry before he started his professional journey at Charabot. He later expanded his experience at Quest International and PFW Aroma Chemicals B.V., ultimately joining Firmenich in 1990, where he collaborated with legends such as Alberto Morillas. Cavallier-Belletrud is celebrated for his innovative use of modern aroma chemicals, notably Calone 1951, which brought marine and aquatic freshness to iconic fragrances like Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò and Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey. His creative portfolio spans over two hundred perfumes for prestigious houses including Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme, Bvlgari, Jean Paul Gaultier, and many more. In 2012, he was appointed in-house perfumer for Louis Vuitton, where he has crafted a significant and diverse collection for the brand, including bespoke haute couture fragrances. Cavallier-Belletrud’s influence on contemporary perfumery is profound, both through his technical mastery and his ability to create scents that balance innovation with wearability.
