Fueguia 1833
Empirically trained rather than industry-schooled, Bedel works almost exclusively with natural materials, treating plant extracts as a palette akin to pigments or musical notes. His compositions for Fueguia 1833 frequently spotlight rare South American botanicals, are produced in small batches, and avoid synthetic preservatives and dyes, aiming for highly natural, landscape-like, often green and woody olfactory profiles.
Julian Bedel is an Argentinian-born founder and in-house perfumer of the niche fragrance brand Fueguia 1833, established around 2010 and initially started in his kitchen in Buenos Aires. Before creating perfumes, he worked as a branding strategist for luxury goods and trained as a musician and painter. Fueguia 1833 is vertically integrated, with Bedel overseeing everything from botanical research and sourcing rare South American ingredients to formulation and packaging design, using only natural, biodegradable materials without preservatives or dyes. He often debuts fragrances through conceptual art installations and has created more than 100 limited-edition scents, many inspired by Argentine history, landscapes and culture.
