Karine Chevallier

Karine Chevallier

Chevallier often works with clear, streamlined constructions, reflecting her stated “less is more” philosophy. Her city series for Gallivant (London, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires) shows a focus on atmospheric, place‑evoking accords, while Une Nuit Nomade’s Fleur des Fleurs and Murmure des Dieux explore lush tropical florals. In Bois d’Enfant for Maison Rebatchi, she combines bergamot, spicy resinous facets, pine, and cedar with fir balsam to suggest the memory of a childhood forest.

About

Karine Chevallier is a French perfumer who entered ISIPCA in 1993 and graduated in the mid‑1990s, receiving formal perfumery training from Mark Buxton at Haarmann & Reimer. Around 2000 she stepped back from creation to complete a master’s degree in luxury marketing and gained work experience at Guerlain. In 2001 she opened and managed the Paris headquarters of a Grasse‑based fragrance company, before founding her own independent perfumery studio, Olfactive Design, in 2005 with encouragement from Michel Roudnitska and the Art et Parfum circle. She has created fragrances for niche brands such as Une Nuit Nomade (Fleur des Fleurs, Murmure des Dieux), Gallivant (including London, a 2018 Art and Olfaction Awards finalist), and Maison Rebatchi (Bois d’Enfant). Beyond commercial briefs, she has recreated the scent of the Chauvet Cave and composed a fragrance for artist Enki Bilal’s exhibition at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris. Since 2014 she has also taught perfumery at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris.
