Parfum d'Empire
Corticchiato is strongly associated with rich, sensuous compositions built around high-quality natural materials, often highlighting dense, spicy-ambery and animalic facets, as in Ambre Russe and Osmanthus Noir. He frequently explores Mediterranean and Corsican landscapes through notes like immortelle, citrus and aromatic herbs, and he favors concentrated, long-lasting formulas with pronounced sillage.
Marc-Antoine Corticchiato is a perfumer and scientist born in Morocco to a Corsican family, who grew up between his parents’ citrus groves near Azemmour and the maquis of the Corsican village of Corticchiato. Initially a competitive horseman, he turned to science and earned a Ph.D. in chemistry, developing a carbon-13 NMR method for analyzing aromatic plant extracts, with his work published in international journals. He then trained in perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles. Corticchiato later founded the niche perfume house Parfum d’Empire, for which he serves as in-house perfumer and creator of fragrances such as Ambre Russe, Azemour Les Orangers, Aziyadé and Eau de Gloire. He has also composed Speakeasy for the cognac brand Frapin and Osmanthus Noir for Parfumeurs du Monde, and oversees his own essential-oil production unit in Madagascar.
