Marie du Petit Thouars is the founder and perfumer behind the niche fragrance house Maison Louis Marie, established in 2013 and based in Los Angeles. She grew up in Belgium, spending time in her grandfather’s plant nursery and experimenting with scents and candles in her mother’s greenhouse, a background that strongly informs her botanical approach to fragrance. Her work draws on the botanical legacy of her ancestor, French botanist Louis Marie Aubert du Petit-Thouars, whose plant discoveries inspire many of the brand’s compositions and naming. Before launching Maison Louis Marie, she worked in Paris in fashion, including under Isabella Blow and later as a fashion editor at the Sunday Times, before relocating to Los Angeles and shifting her focus to olfactory creation.
