Meabh McCurtin is an Irish-born perfumer whose career has been marked by a blend of scientific rigor and artistic exploration. After earning a degree in biochemistry from the National University of Ireland in Galway, she continued her studies at the Ecole normale supérieure in Lyon. Her journey in perfumery has taken her across several key fragrance capitals-including Geneva, Amsterdam, Paris, and New York-culminating in her work for IFF, one of the world's leading fragrance houses. She was mentored by Dominique Ropion, the renowned French master perfumer, which helped shape her approach to composition and innovation. McCurtin is noted for her collaborative spirit, having worked with artists on the Eau d’Amsterdam project-a fragrance built from a headspace analysis of elm tree leaves and branches. She has contributed to both niche and mainstream brands, creating award-winning scents such as Róisín Dubh for Cloon Keen, which was recognized as the Best New Independent Fragrance by the Fragrance Foundation in 2019. Her portfolio includes work for brands like Ellis Brooklyn, Maison Martin Margiela, and Montblanc, showcasing a range that balances conceptual artistry with technical precision.
