Agua Fresca Citrus Cedro
Eau de Parfum
Adolfo Domínguez
Frequently describes perfume as a language and compares his compositions to poetry, selecting ingredients for their “meaning” and the values they convey. Draws primary inspiration from literature and storytelling and reflects this in inkwell-shaped bottles he designed himself. His work for his eponymous house often emphasizes narrative, emotion and classical materials interpreted through a literary, conceptual lens.
Ramón Monegal was born in Barcelona in 1951 into the family that founded the historic Spanish perfume house Myrurgia, official supplier to the Spanish Royal House. A fourth-generation perfumer, he began formal training in 1972, studying in Geneva with Firmenich perfumer Artur Jordi Pey, in Grasse with Marcel Carles, and in Paris with Pierre Bourdon, while also studying architecture at the Barcelona Design Centre. After Myrurgia was absorbed by Puig around 2000, he was tasked with managing the brands and licenses Puig acquired from Myrurgia. In 2009 he opened his own independent house, Ramon Monegal Barcelona, where he designs his inkwell-shaped flacons and exerts full control over formulation and production. Literature is his declared main inspiration; he describes his work as “turning words into notes, phrases into chords, stories into compositions,” conceiving each perfume as a kind of olfactory poetry.
