Grossmith
Restoration of historical formulae for Grossmith. Available sources do not establish a broader olfactory signature.
Richard Melchio is described as a master perfumer for Robertet UK. He is credited with Hasu-no-Hana, the oldest of the three classic Grossmith perfumes remastered for the revival of the British house, and with Oesel for Xerjoff (2009).
A perfumery directory says he worked with colleagues at Robertet to revive the long-dormant Grossmith brand by reinterpreting its old formulae. The same directory says that during his time at the Robertet labs in Grasse he trained many of today's industry leaders. The perfumer Lyn Harris confirms this in her own words: Robertet placed her under him in Grasse, and she studied with him for three years.
The Grossmith credit comes mainly from Fragrantica and the directory. Other writers credit a Robertet colleague, Trevor Nicholl, with the house's revival formulae, so the exact split of work is not settled.
No public source gives his birth year, his own training or his years in the industry, so the record states none.
