Eau de Parfum
Lubin
Fontaine is particularly associated with reinterpreting archival formulas for heritage houses, carefully modernising structures like those of Jean Patou and Lubin while respecting their original character. His portfolio often highlights classical French themes built around florals, woods and chypre-style constructions, as seen in Lubin Black Jade and Le Galion Snob, and he frequently works with notes such as rose, tuberose, patchouli and leather in a polished, historically informed style.
Thomas Fontaine is a French perfumer based in Paris and a graduate of the ISIPCA perfumery school in Versailles. Early in his career he worked for raw-material producers Mane, Charabot and Technico Flor in France, Germany and the United States. He has been an independent perfumer since 2009, when he founded his consulting and creation company Pallida. Fontaine is closely associated with reviving heritage houses, serving as in-house perfumer for Jean Patou (reworking classics such as Joy) and creating for Worth, Jean-Louis Scherrer and Agent Provocateur. For Lubin he composed scents including Black Jade, Gin Fizz and Figaro, while for Grès he created Cabotine Floralisme and Miss Cabaret, and for Le Galion he authored Snob, Tubereuse and Eau Noble. Since July 2020 he has also served as president of the Osmothèque perfume conservatory.
