Bohoboco
Polish niche house blending contrasting notes and introspective themes into polished, unisex compositions.
Bohoboco is a Polish fragrance line created by fashion designer Michał Gilbert Lach. The Bohoboco fashion label was founded as a ready to wear brand in Warsaw in 2009, and Lach’s first fragrance project, Composition No. 1, debuted in 2012 alongside the clothing line. Building on the response to that scent, he launched Bohoboco • Perfume as a dedicated perfume collection in 2016, reintroducing the original fragrance under the new name Vanilla Black Pepper.
The brand is based in Poland but produces its fragrances in Grasse, France, working with high quality raw materials and a clearly artistic, niche positioning. Bohoboco’s collection now spans well over a dozen perfumes, including compositions such as Eucalyptus Patchouli, Geranium Balsamic Note (both 2016), Yellow Rose Incense (2021), and Wild Carrot Oud and Jasmine White Leather (2022). Many of the scents are built around contrasting pairs of notes, often named directly in the fragrance titles, and explore themes of memory, spirituality, and emotional duality.
Lach has described the line as a way to escape the constraints he felt in fashion and to pursue a more personal, introspective form of creativity. The bottles follow a clean, architectural aesthetic with minimalist labels and introspective names, while the fragrances themselves are vegan and cruelty free according to brand materials. Bohoboco has steadily expanded its international presence since around 2019, gaining distribution in niche focused retailers and online boutiques outside Poland.
A niche, premium house known for woody compositions.
Bohoboco’s fragrance story began with a single scent tied to its fashion collections in 2012, then pivoted to a full perfume focus with the 2016 launch of Bohoboco • Perfume and an initial set of eight compositions. Early releases emphasized clear note pairings like Eucalyptus Patchouli and Geranium Balsamic Note, while later entries such as Yellow Rose Incense and Wild Carrot Oud pushed further into complex florals, incense, and more unusual accords. Over time the brand has moved from being a fashion offshoot to functioning as a standalone niche perfume house with growing international distribution and a stronger emphasis on narrative, introspection, and emotional storytelling in its marketing and naming.
Bohoboco is a thoughtful, creative niche line that will appeal if you like conceptual, unisex fragrances with contrast and depth. If you prefer very light, simple, or purely crowd pleasing scents, this house may feel a bit too introspective and weighty.
