Malbrum

Malbrum is a Norwegian niche perfume house founded in Oslo in 2010 by Kristian Hilberg, who also works under the artistic name Malbrum. The brand quickly developed around a clear idea: focus on high concentration, strong longevity and carefully chosen materials, with production rooted in Grasse while keeping the creative base in Norway. Its first trilogy, Volume I, was created with French perfumer Delphine Thierry and released in 2015, followed by further volumes in the subsequent years.

Hilberg, originally a fragrance enthusiast and collector, shaped Malbrum around contrasts: Nordic coolness versus French classicism, sensual bases paired with unusual, sometimes abrasive top notes, and compositions that deliberately sit slightly off-center from mainstream taste. Many of the perfumes are extrait de parfum and are known among retailers for being rich, multilayered and long lasting, aiming at wearers who are comfortable with bolder, sometimes challenging statements.

Over time, Malbrum has expanded beyond the initial collaboration with Delphine Thierry to include work with perfumer Cristiano Canali, resulting in later collections such as Volume III: Act of Faith, which introduces plusher, more floral and cozy facets without abandoning the house’s taste for distinctive signatures. Key scents like Tigre du Bengale, Psychotrope, Wildfire and Shameless Seducer illustrate the brand’s preference for striking ingredient pairings and an emphasis on texture and sensuality rather than crowd-pleasing simplicity.
