Almond Tree
Note Profile
About
Almond tree is a fantasy note. It renders the living tree rather than the nut: crushed leaf, fresh bark and the bitter kernel snap of benzaldehyde. Two trade sources describe it in the same three words, green, nutty and woody. It is not a gourmand almond and no source treats it as one.
Scent Profile
Almond Tree smells of crushed green leaf and fresh bark, sappy rather than sweet. A nutty bitterness runs through it, closer to a bitten kernel than to marzipan. Underneath sits a dry woody warmth, like sun-warmed bark and almond-shell dryness. The drydown turns faintly sweet but stays austere, staying more wood than nut.
ScentWheel
Read off the wheel, not a label applied to the note.
Origin
There is no almond tree extract. Perfumers build the note synthetically, usually around benzaldehyde for the bitter kernel edge, with green leaf materials over a dry woody base. Prunus dulcis supplies the reference, not the raw material. The Perfume Society names it a synthetic fantasy note. Premiere Peau describes it as the whole plant rather than the seed.
Usage in Perfumery
Used to put an almond idea in an orchard instead of a dessert. It sits in the heart, adds a bitter-green lift over woods, and keeps almond out of the marzipan register. It works next to fig, crushed leaf materials and dry cedars.
