Sweet and gourmand scent family
Everything edible, from vanilla to roasted coffee
What holds it together
The youngest family in perfumery, since gourmand as a category barely predates 1992. Six facets run from the soft centre of vanilla out to the bitterness of cocoa, the kernel-dryness of almond, the ferment of rum, the waxy animal edge of honey, and the milky, creamy weight of dairy.
nougat - and in the same register, brownie, caramel popcorn.
Notes strongest in Sweet & Gourmand
Strongest first. A note's family value is the highest of its member facets, not their average - averaging would let a note that is emphatically one thing and nothing else read as weak, which is the opposite of what the family is for.

The facets in it
The facets are the coordinate system; the family is how it is read. Every one of these is measured separately, and a note carries a value on all of them at once.
The other families
Every other family gathers the same 34 facets a different way.
