Apple Skin
Note Profile
About
Apple skin is not a sold material. It is the dry, waxy, green-woody surface effect inside an apple accord, built from Manzanate (ethyl 2-methylpentanoate) and Verdox (2-tert-butylcyclohexyl acetate). Where plain apple reads juicy and bitten-into, apple skin reads dry and green with a woody undertone.
Scent Profile
Apple skin is a dry, green, waxy version of apple, built to read as the peel rather than the juicy flesh. Where plain apple is soft and juicy, this stays dry and green with a woody edge underneath. A light waxy sheen coats it, holding the fruity sweetness back rather than letting it run wet and sour like a bitten apple.

Origin
No apple absolute exists for perfumery, so the apple accord and the skin effect inside it are both synthetic. CA Perfume names two molecules for the skin: Manzanate, which "provides a waxy, green apple skin effect", and Verdox, which "is used to impart a green-apple nuance with woody undertones". The juicy part of an apple accord comes from separate, more volatile esters such as hexyl acetate and butyl acetate.
Usage in Perfumery
Parfumo records 11 fragrances across 8 brands. Formulators use it to make an apple accord read as whole fruit rather than juice, and to hold that fruit further into the drydown than the volatile acetates can. The source says Verdox adds "realism and longevity in the accord".
