About

Heliconia is a fantasy accord, not an extract. The living flower has almost no smell. Heliconia is pollinated by hummingbirds, which find it by sight, so the plant never had to make a scent. Perfumers use the name for the air around the plant rather than the plant itself: warm, humid, waxy green, with damp earth under it.

Scent Profile

Green leads and it is the only facet the source puts first: 'Green, waxy, humid, and tropical', then 'the dense density of tropical vegetation'. Tropical is the second half of that same sentence and the reason the note exists at all, since the accord is sold as a place, a tropical greenhouse, not as a flower. Aquatic_ozonic carries the humidity, which the source names three times: 'humid', 'warm, humid air', 'green-humid'. It is held below tropical because nobody calls this note wet or marine, only damp. Origin

Heliconia is a genus of tropical American and Pacific plants grown for its vivid bracts. No supplier sells a heliconia extract, there is no CAS number for one, and no analytical source describes the plant's odour. Premiere Peau, the one trade source with an olfactive description, states the flower has 'virtually no detectable fragrance' and that the perfumery note is 'a fantasy accord capturing tropical-green atmosphere rather than floral scent', built from green-waxy materials, humid-tropical elements and a dense leafy quality. Parfumo records the note in 3 perfumes across 2 brands, first in 2014 and last in 2025.
