Blue tansy oil, CAS 8016-87-3 - Tanacetum annuum, the same species the note names. CORRECTED 2026-08-14: this edge was created hours earlier flagged material_not_held, because the probe searched materials for the BINOMIAL (`tanacetum`) and the row we hold is named by the COMMON name, `Blue tansy oil`. We held it the whole time.
Steam distilled from Tanacetum annuum, a Moroccan annual, and NOT the common tansy Tanacetum vulgare that shares the name. Its deep blue colour comes from chamazulene formed during distillation.
Used for its herbal-fruity sweetness in natural perfumery, though its intense blue colour constrains where it can go.
