About

Canna flower is the bloom of Canna indica and its relatives. It is nearly scentless. The plant is pollinated by birds, which hunt by sight, so it never evolved a strong smell. No essential oil or absolute of it is made.

Canna indica and related species, tropical. The source says the crushed leaf smells stronger than the flower: vegetal, slightly waxy and green. The rhizome contributes a starchy quality. There is no commercial extract, so any canna flower in a formula is a reconstruction from green-floral and starchy materials.
