Scent Profile

Citrus and fruity run level and both are sourced twice. Two retail listings give the ingredient list as 'orange, lime, cranberry & vodka', and one describes 'the balance of sweet and sour citrus with orange and lime, a burst of tart cranberry'. The Grey Goose recipe page confirms the orange twist garnish, which is peel oil in the glass. Sour is close behind and is the facet the sources agree on hardest. The retailer calls it 'sweet and sour', and the one first-hand review calls it 'very tart on initial spritz' and 'sour and tangy'. Sweet_vanillic is the sugar. The same review names 'refined sugar' and 'strawberry Sweet Tarts', so the sweetness is confectionery rather than vanilla bean. Boozy is deliberately low and it is the one contested value. Sellers write 'the bitter bite of vodka', but the only person who reports smelling the thing says it 'doesn't smell alchol-ish'. Vodka is close to odourless, and the published vodka note itself sits at boozy with almost nothing else, so a real vodka signal in a fruit accord would be faint. The spread on boozy, the widest here, because the sources contradict each other.

Origin

The referent is the mixed drink: vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and lime, served with an orange twist. Perfumery builds it as an accord from citrus oils, red-berry materials and a sugar-syrup sweetener. The reference fragrance in all the sources found is Demeter's Cosmopolitan Cocktail cologne.

It is used whole, as a named cocktail accord in gourmand and fruity fragrances. The tart citrus-berry top is what it contributes. It sits at the opening of a composition and needs a musk or light woody base under it, because it has almost no body of its own.
