Scent Profile

Fabric smells like clean musk laid over a soft, powdery finish, the base note of freshly laundered clothes. A faint soapy crispness runs through it, like a just-ironed collar, bright at the edges. Underneath sits a soft, creamy woodiness, cashmere-like rather than sharp, that separates it from plainer clean-textile notes. It stays soft and warm rather than green or heavily floral.

What is ScentArt?

Origin

No natural referent at all. Première Peau is plain about it: 'entirely compounded accord. No natural textile extract is used in perfumery.' The accord is named material by material: clean musks (Galaxolide, Habanolide, Helvetolide) for the laundry-fresh baseline, Cashmeran for cashmere-like warmth, aldehyde traces for the just-ironed quality, and methyl laitone or a similar lactone for starchy-cotton dryness.

Usage in Perfumery

Base note, with medium odour strength. It is an atmospheric note, used to create closeness without any single ingredient being identifiable, and is central to the clean-fragrance category and to skin-scent compositions. It pairs with skin musks, white florals at low doses and transparent woody notes. Attested in 25 Fragrantica perfumes and 1 Parfumo entry.
