The flower of Lawsonia inermis, the same plant that gives henna leaf. The bloom opens at night. Premiere Peau describes it as sweet, heavy and narcotic, against the leaf's green medicinal character. It is the basis of the Indian hina and gulhina attars.
Scent Profile
Henna Blossom smells sweet, heavy and narcotic, a white flower that opens at night. Underneath it reads faintly rosy and floral, compared to a mix of rose, chocolate and good cigars. A honeyed warmth carries the sweetness, richer and heavier than the green, medicinal character of the henna leaf. A trace of warm, clove-like spice runs through it, though that may come partly from the attar it is compounded in.

Origin
Botanical. The flower of Lawsonia inermis, distilled or steeped in sandalwood oil in the traditional Kannauj attar trade. No modern supplier lists an isolated henna flower absolute.
Usage in Perfumery
Used in Indian attar-making rather than in Western perfumery, where the leaf reference dominates. Sits in the heart, over a sandalwood base.
