Stargazer lily is a heady white floral with a powdery, baby-powder softness and a rich sweetness. A green, wet-stem sharpness sits at the front. Under it is an indolic warmth that some people read as meaty, which is what separates this cultivar from a plain lily.

Scent Profile

White_floral is the note. L'Aromatica calls it 'an exotic, heady floral', and BPAL wearers describe 'a baby powder kind of white lily smell'. Floral is the general floral body that Bloom to Perfume names first. Powdery rests on the BPAL account of a 'soft powdery white floral' and is the facet the published Lily note does not carry. Sweet_vanillic is Bloom to Perfume's 'rich sweetness'. Green is named twice, as L'Aromatica's 'Green Citrus' and as a BPAL wearer's 'green, fresh sharpness. It smells like wet flower stems'. Animalic is the indolic drydown: Perfume Posse describes 'a thick undercurrent of indoles' and, more bluntly, an 'overwhelming hammy note'. Origin

Lilium 'Stargazer' is an Oriental hybrid lily bred in California in 1974. No true essential oil exists, confirmed by L'Aromatica, who state they build their own accord from other essential oils instead. Every description of this note is therefore either a commercial accord or an account of the living flower.

Usage in Perfumery

Used in the heart as a heady white floral. Because there is no natural oil, perfumers build it from other florals plus green and spiced materials. L'Aromatica's published build lists Exotic Florals, Green Citrus, Sandalwood and Balsamic Woods.
