Note Profile
Heavy, creamy white floral between tuberose and gardenia
Crinum lily smells heavy, creamy and narcotically sweet, closer to tuberose and gardenia than to a garden lily. A milky, creamy softness runs under the white petals. A faint spicy-green thread keeps it from being only sweet. A quiet indolic warmth sits underneath, softer than in tuberose, and the scent grows stronger in the evening.

Crinum lily is a bulb of the Amaryllidaceae family, not a true lily (Lilium). Species such as Crinum asiaticum and the hybrid Crinum x powellii bear large white to pink trumpet flowers. The flowers yield no commercial absolute or oil, so the note is a fantasy accord.
Perfumers build crinum lily as an accord from tuberose and gardenia materials with lactones. It is used as a heady, tropical white-floral heart. The name brings an evening, tropical image rather than a garden lily.
