What holds it together

The youngest family in perfumery, since gourmand as a category barely predates 1992. Five facets run from the soft centre of vanilla out to the bitterness of cocoa, the kernel-dryness of almond, the ferment of rum, and the waxy animal edge of honey.

Strongest first. A note's family value is the highest of its member facets, not their average - averaging would let a note that is emphatically one thing and nothing else read as weak, which is the opposite of what the family is for.
