Honeydew Blossom
Note Profile
About
A fantasy flower. Pale-green, watery-sweet and barely there, with a thin floral haze over melon-rind freshness and a dewy musk. It is built to read as transparent, closer to a watercolour than to any heady white flower.
Scent Profile
Honeydew blossom is a fantasy flower, pale green and barely there. A gentle floral haze sits over a watery, melon-rind freshness, the two carried equally rather than one leading. A soft, ripe melon fruitiness peeks through without ever reading as cut fruit. Underneath is a dewy, clean musk that keeps the whole thing transparent, like a watercolour rather than a heady white flower.
ScentWheel
Read off the wheel, not a label applied to the note.
Origin
Constructed, not extracted. The real plant flower is odourless: Cucumis melo var. inodorus, the honeydew melon, is literally "scentless muskmelon", and its small yellow flowers carry almost no fragrance, so nothing is distilled from them. Premiere Peau describes the perfumery note as an imagined flower of the melon vine and names the build: calone or melonal for the watery-melon freshness, hedione for floral radiance, clean musks for dewy transparency, and a trace of honey.
Usage in Perfumery
Used where a melon note is wanted without the fruit-salad weight of melon flesh - as a transparent floral top-to-heart in fresh and aquatic compositions. The one source pitches it explicitly against heavier flowers: more transparent than jasmine, less tropical than frangipani.
