Industrial glue is a fantasy accord, not a material anyone sells. It is built to smell of solvent cement: a sharp chemical burst with an ethyl-acetate fruitiness under it, and a hard, raw, non-organic edge that is the point of the note. It fades fast to a faint chemical sweetness.

Scent Profile

Industrial Glue smells hard and mineral, a raw, plastic-like edge close to polystyrene or fresh enamel paint rather than anything organic. Under the sharp chemical burst sits a fruity sweetness from the solvent itself. A sour, sharp bite runs through the whole thing, almost a headrush. It fades fast to a faint, chemical sweetness.

There is no purchasable perfumery base called industrial glue. Every source describes either a bespoke in-house accord or the real chemistry of adhesives. The one fragrance actually built on it, Comme des Garcons (2011) by Antoine Lie, pairs it in the top with a second fantasy note, parcel tape, which is not published as a note because it is attested only once. Premiere Peau's ingredient glossary gives the only treatment that is not tied to that perfume, and it names ethyl acetate as the carrier. Fraunhofer Institute research on real adhesives, reported by Phys.org, found actual glue odourants spanning pungent, fruity, leathery, smoky and mouldy. That is wider than what perfumery reconstructs, so the note is a recognisable caricature of adhesive, not a faithful copy of one.

Usage in Perfumery

A top-note shock effect. Attested on 14 Fragrantica entries and 0 Parfumo entries, with Fragrantica filing it under 'Natural and synthetic, popular and weird' and calling it a novelty note. Perfumers use it to open a composition with something that reads as manufactured rather than grown. Its documented partners are other synthetic-object notes: parcel tape, polystyrene, enamel paint, plus musk and styrax.
