About

Jasminum polyanthum, the pink or winter jasmine. One natural perfumer who smelled the raw flower says it reads less like a jasmine and more like a mix of sandalwood and star jasmine. It reads creamy, buttery, green and unripe, and less vibrant than grandiflorum or sambac.

Scent Profile

Jasminum Polyanthum barely reads as jasmine at all. It comes across more as sandalwood and star jasmine, feathery rather than vibrant. A creamy, buttery sandalwood note stands out, buttery without any oiliness to it. The flower smells green and unripe, as if it has opened without ripening, with a faint banana note and a milky, suntan-lotion softness underneath.

Origin

There is no commercial extraction for perfumery. The only material found is enfleurage made by one independent natural perfumer, Wild Veil, who ran it from November 2023 to February 2024. No supplier publishes an odour data sheet for it.
