Origin
Kiwano is the fruit of Cucumis metuliferus, the African horned melon. It is a cucumber relative from southern Africa. No kiwano extract or aroma chemical sold under that name was found. The note is a built accord aimed at the green jelly flesh. What a bottle contains is a reconstruction, not an extract.
Usage in Perfumery
A top-note accent, used for an exotic, watery fruit effect without much sugar. Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Extreme lists it in the top beside a gin-and-tonic accord. Citrus, Sichuan pepper and violet leaf follow in the heart.
