A creamy magnolia with weeds in it. Green and a little dank, not the clean transparent magnolia of mainstream perfumery. Named after a real garden hybrid and reconstructed from aroma chemicals, because no oil of it is sold.
Scent Profile
White_floral leads from the one detailed account: a 'creamy-weedy magnolia core'. The creaminess and the flower are the same claim, so lactonic rides with it rather than standing on its own evidence. Green is the second half of that same phrase, and the review calls the whole thing 'a green-floral'. It is set below the flower because 'weedy' qualifies a magnolia rather than replacing it. Floral splits the petal florality from the white-flower creaminess, following how the published magnolia siblings are scored. Citrus is held, not asserted: the published magnolia note carries citrus as its lemony signature and this hybrid's sources are silent on it. Silence is not absence, so it sits low with a wide spread rather than at zero. Animalic is the 'rot and dank facets of actual magnolia blooms' the review names as deliberate, with earthy and mossy_chypre behind it for the same dank reading. Origin
Magnolia x brooklynensis is a hybrid of Magnolia acuminata and Magnolia liliiflora, first raised at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It is not distilled commercially. The note exists because one perfume, D.S. & Durga's Magnolia City, names it and builds it as a reconstruction, using it in the heart alongside a separate saucer magnolia in the base. Fragrantica files it as a fantasy floral.

Rare. Attested on 2 Fragrantica entries and 0 Parfumo entries. It is used as the naturalistic half of a green floral, where the point is that the flower smells like a flower outdoors rather than like a perfume.
