Green leads and both sources put it first. The study names 'herbaceous, pine-like and resinous notes, typical of unripe mango tissues' and the supplier's reviewer says 'crushed mango skin and leather, really juicy green and leathery'. Amber_resinous is the resinous half of that same sentence, carried by the terpenes the study measures. Citrus comes from the ripe stage, where the study records 'higher citrus and pine intensities characteristic of optimal maturity'. Tropical and fruity sit well below the published mango note's 0.72 and 0.55, because the study's whole point is that the peel is not where the juice smell lives. Aromatic_herbal takes the 'herbaceous' descriptor directly. Below the line, sour is the reviewer's 'slightly astringent in a pleasing way, but not too bitter', leather is the same reviewer's word held down because it belongs to the leaf-and-rind absolute rather than to peel alone, and honeyed is the caramel/honey the study finds only after drying.

Origin

Mango peel (Mangifera indica). Nobody sells a peel-only oil. A 2026 volatile study in Foods profiled the peel at three ripening stages and found it terpene-driven and chemically separate from the pulp. The nearest thing a perfumer can buy is Hermitage Oils' mango leaf absolute, which the supplier describes as 'the aroma of the oil found in the leaf and the rind'.
