About

Burberry Goddess built its modern floral-amber identity on a bright bergamot-neroli opening giving way to a jasmine heart and a warm, radiant amber-woody base. No 97 works from the same template, opening with bergamot and neroli for a sparkling citrus lift before moving into a jasmine and orange blossom heart. The white floral pairing is convincing and reads close to the original's fresh, modern femininity. The base of cedar and ambroxan aims for the same amber-woody warmth, but it settles quickly into a soft, powdery skin scent rather than sustaining the designer's fuller sillage. It is a reasonable daytime alternative for anyone who loves the citrus-floral opening of Goddess but does not need the projection or longevity of the original for an evening out.
