Note Profile
Neroli Essence, Tunisian Neroli
Orange blossom distillate
Neroli has a luminous, fresh floral scent with pronounced citrus facets and subtle green undertones. It displays a delicate balance between sweet orange blossom and crisp, slightly bitter notes, evolving to reveal a soft, powdery drydown. The aroma is airy and uplifting, with a gentle, clean character.
Neroli is steam-distilled from the fresh blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium), primarily cultivated in Mediterranean regions such as Tunisia, Morocco, and Italy. The extraction process yields a pale, volatile essential oil distinct from orange blossom absolute, which is solvent-extracted from the same flowers.
Perfumers use neroli mainly in the top and heart notes of compositions to impart freshness and a refined floral-citrus brightness. It blends well with other citrus oils, white florals, and green notes, and is valued for its ability to add radiance and lift to both classic and modern fragrances.
Perfumers known for using Neroli include Alberto Morillas , Anne Flipo , Elodie Durande , Roja Dove , Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud , and Christian Provenzano .
