Scent Profile

Sea daffodil smells like a heady white lily, with a hint of green. Some describe it as heavy and waxy, closer to tuberose than to narcissus but drier. A watery, sea-air note runs through it. One description adds warm sand and a trace of iodine. A soft, clean musk finishes the reconstruction. It carries a strong floral character, with soft petal sweetness around the heavy white bloom.

What is ScentArt?

Origin

Sea daffodil is Pancratium maritimum, a bulb of Mediterranean sand dunes that flowers at dusk and releases its scent on still nights. It is not a true daffodil and not a Narcissus. No essential oil, absolute or CO2 extract of the species is sold. The plant is protected across much of its range, listed Endangered in Bulgaria and Crete and Vulnerable in Lebanon. Every perfumery use of the name is therefore a reconstruction. One glossary names white-floral synthetics such as hedione and methyl benzoate, marine molecules such as calone and dihydromyrcenol, and fixative musks.

Usage in Perfumery

Works in the heart, bridging marine top notes to musky or woody bases. There is no standardised formula, so the name signals an intent more than a fixed accord. Two houses using it may not smell alike.
