Blossom Perfumery 542 Pistachio Gelato is an Eau de Parfum. 542 Pistachio Gelato opens with Bergamot, Cardamom, Hazelnut, and Pistachio, settles into a heart of Jasmine, Peony, Pear, and Raspberry, and dries down to a base of Dark Chocolate, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, and Cotton Candy. Blossom Perfumery's 542 Pistachio Gelato carries an Acquired verdict, a gourmand-led wear.

542 chases Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33's dessert-like pistachio-hazelnut opening closely, but the marshmallow-candy base is more one-note and cloying than the original's carefully balanced gourmand layering, and it thins out faster.

About

542 opens with the same mouth-watering pistachio, hazelnut and rum combination that made Kayali's Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 a viral gourmand hit, and the resemblance in the first thirty minutes is genuinely strong. The floral-fruity heart of pear, jasmine, peony and raspberry softens the sweetness a touch, echoing the original's attempt to keep things from tipping into pure sugar. Where it falls short is the base - the whipped cream, marshmallow and cotton candy layering that gives the real thing its polished, multi-textured dessert effect collapses here into a simpler, flatter candy-and-tonka sweetness that can read a little cloying after an hour. Fun and instantly recognisable for gourmand fans, but it lacks the original's balance and does not last anywhere near as long.
