Dulcie Pegwell is a Parfum launched in 2014. Pegwell opens with Bitter Orange, Birch, and Fennel, settles into a heart of Pepper, Juniper, and Mint, and dries down to a base of Musk and Vetiver. Dulcie's Pegwell carries an Acquired verdict, a green-led wear.

Salt marsh in a bottle: sweet fennel and birch against juniper, pepper and mint. Green, herbal and long-lasting, so two sprays is plenty. Made for spring and summer days.

Top, heart and base are the pyramid as published, not a timing claim. Each note's timing follows its listed tier, where it usually sits across many published pyramids (from ScentPrism) and its vapour pressure. A note comes through as the notes usually listed before it fade, judged from how other pyramids order the same pair. The thickness of a ribbon shows the note's share of what is left on the skin, which tracks how strongly it smells, because odour thresholds rise with vapour pressure. The shares come from how prominent wearers vote each note. It is a simple model, not a measurement.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer

Fennel, citrus, mint and green herbs are cool and bright, so spring and summer lead by a wide margin. Winter is not its season.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Casual
Also Works:
Office Sport

A fresh, sharp, concentrated aromatic that suits casual daytime wear best, and the office when applied lightly. It is less of a date-night scent.

About

Pegwell is a herbal, aromatic Parfum made as a snapshot of the salt marshes of Pegwell Bay on the Kent coast. Dulcie, formerly Haeckels, describes the wild scent of fennel and birch bottled with a twist of black pepper and a squeeze of juniper. The opening is fennel, bright and green, with a sharp citrus snap, bitter orange and a cool mint note. Peppery herbs and juniper come next, then vetiver in a clean, mineral and slightly salty drydown. It smells very British, nothing like a medicinal bath, in the line of classic British aromatic colognes only stronger. It is a concentrated Parfum. Two sprays are plenty, it is strong on skin even in hot weather, and it can be sharp if sprayed too close, so a little extra distance helps. Longevity is long and the trail strong. After about two hours a clean, synthetic-feeling woody note takes over for some noses and spoils the fennel. If you like fennel, juniper and green herbs and want something fresh and long-lasting for spring and summer days, this is the one to try.
