Kilian's Angel's Share is one of the most acclaimed gourmand fragrances of the modern era, opening with a rich cognac accord and warm cinnamon before developing into a praline and tonka bean heart, then a smooth vanilla, amber and sandalwood base. It has a reputation in the fragrance community for exceptional, near-legendary longevity, often described as lasting well into the next day. Cognac takes on the same boozy-cinnamon-praline-vanilla shape: cinnamon and a cognac accord open the fragrance, praline and tonka bean fill the heart, vanilla, amber and sandalwood close it out. The overall gourmand character comes through clearly and the cinnamon-praline combination is a fair likeness of the original's addictive dessert quality. The area where the two diverge most is performance. Angel's Share's reputation rests heavily on how long and how strongly it projects, and that is simply not something a budget reformulation at this price point reproduces; Cognac settles into a soft vanilla skin scent within a few hours where the original would still be filling a room. Worth trying to see if the boozy-gourmand family suits you, but do not expect the original's staying power.
