About

Agar Ébène is a quiet kind of oud. Sichuan pepper opens it with a tingling, citrusy warmth, and cinnamon and cedar follow, spicy and dry rather than sweet. Agarwood sits through the middle without making a scene, balanced by balsam. The base is leather, benzoin and vanilla: smooth, slightly sweet and rather dark. It lasts for many hours but keeps close, so you smell it on yourself and anyone near you more than across a room. That makes it a good evening scent for autumn and winter, and fine for dates and dressed occasions where something understated is wanted. It is subtle enough that an office will not mind.
