About

U4A opens with an unusual fruity trio - pomegranate, persimmon and green notes - that's more distinctive and less mainstream than the bergamot or apple openings found elsewhere in the range, persimmon in particular being a rare, honeyed autumnal fruit note in perfumery. The heart is genuinely exotic: lotus, champaca and black orchid combine into a rich, slightly waxy, tropical-floral bouquet, champaca being a golden magnolia-relative flower prized in Southeast Asian perfumery traditions for its complex, fruity-spicy character. The base continues the unusual, luxurious feel: amber, black violet, creamy notes and mahogany combine for a warm, dark, slightly woody finish, mahogany being an uncommon wood note that lends a rich, reddish, slightly spicy depth distinct from cedar or sandalwood. With an unusually exotic and specific note selection across all three phases, U4A reads as one of the more distinctive and characterful compositions in the range, avoiding the generic citrus-floral-musk template used by many of its siblings. Best suited to cooler weather and evening wear where its rich, exotic character can be fully appreciated.
