Carolina Herrera's 212 Men is a modern classic built on the New York skyscraper aesthetic, a crisp grapefruit and green opening over a spiced ginger-violet heart, finished with a clean woody musk base scented with incense and guaiac wood. CAH311 mirrors the pyramid: green notes, grapefruit, spices, bergamot, lavender and petitgrain up top, ginger, violet, gardenia and sage in the heart, musk, sandalwood, incense, guaiac wood, vetiver and labdanum below. The grapefruit-lavender opening is fresh and reasonably close to the sleek, urban character that made the original so popular. The original's woody-incense base gives it a tall, clean sillage that lingers for hours in a room; this version's base fades to a lighter musk sooner, losing some of that towering, minimalist presence.
