Our verdict on L’Autre Oud: Acquired

This one's a proper grower, a refined oud and rose that isn't for dabblers. It takes some getting used to the strong, almost medicinal opening, but trust us, the payoff is a beautiful, expensive-smelling dry down. Not a blind buy, but definitely a masterpiece for the oud-curious.

About

L'Autre Oud opens with an assertive, almost leathery blend of labdanum, cypriol oil, and saffron, giving it an intriguing, slightly clinical edge. This quickly mellows into a rich heart where a dark, spicy rose emerges, perfectly balanced against the smoky, woody backdrop of oud and guaiac wood. The base settles into a deeply balsamic and earthy accord, with myrrh, patchouli, and oakmoss adding a luxurious, comforting depth that lingers for hours.
