L'Arc Parfums Traversée is an Eau de Parfum. Traversée opens with Cypress, Rose, and Saffron, settles into a heart of Cedar, Cinnamon, and Honey, and dries down to a base of Cypriol Oil Or Nagarmotha, Amber, Patchouli, and Tobacco. L'Arc Parfums's Traversée carries an Acquired verdict, a woody-led wear.

Saffron and rose over honey, cinnamon and Virginia cedar, landing on cypriol, patchouli, tobacco and a synthetic amber. A dense, resinous Middle Eastern shape done with restraint rather than volume.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

Honey, cinnamon, tobacco and a heavy amber base are cold-weather materials; in heat the honey turns cloying and the resins become suffocating.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal
Also Works:
Casual

Too dense and distinctive for shared desks, but its restraint after the opening makes it well suited to evenings and dressed-up occasions.

About

Traversée is the cold-weather counterpart in L'Arc's travel range, built around a story of crossing the Atlas Mountains and sheltering in a limestone cave with a caravan of horses. The materials follow that image closely. Saffron and rose open together, which is one of the most recognisable pairings in modern perfumery, and cypress adds a dry, coniferous greenness that stops the opening from reading as another oud-adjacent rose. The heart is where the fragrance earns its concept: white honey brings a waxy, faintly animalic sweetness, cinnamon adds warmth without turning it into a spice bomb, and Virginia cedarwood gives the middle a pencil-shaving dryness that holds everything in shape. Underneath, cypriol is the interesting choice, contributing a smoky, earthy, almost incense-like quality that overlaps with the patchouli beside it. Tobacco absolute supplies the leathery, cured warmth the story asks for, and Amberxtreme, a synthetic amber material, extends the drydown considerably and gives it a mineral, slightly salty radiance. The result is dense but not loud, and it wears closer to the skin than the material list suggests. Longevity is excellent, projection is moderate after the first hour. Autumn and winter, and best in the evening.
