Luxe Fragrances Tusca is an Eau de Parfum. Tusca opens with Saffron and Raspberry, settles into a heart of Jasmine and Frankincense, and dries down to a base of Suede, Leather, and Amber. Luxe Fragrances's Tusca carries an Acquired verdict, a leather-led wear.

Tusca goes for the raspberry-saffron-leather chord that made Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather a Private Blend icon, catching the fruity-leather opening reasonably well while the animalic depth and legendary 10-plus-hour staying power of the original are noticeably scaled down.

About

Inspired by Tuscan Leather is Luxe Fragrances' reading of Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather, the 2007 Private Blend release built around raspberry, saffron and thyme over an olibanum-jasmine heart and a leather-suede-amber base, famous for a rich, almost animalic leather that has become one of the most-copied fragrances in the dupe market. Tusca opens with a sweet raspberry-saffron burst that echoes the original's distinctive fruit-and-spice entry, moving into a frankincense-jasmine heart before settling on leather, suede and amber. The raspberry-leather contrast is a genuinely recognisable nod to the real Tuscan Leather, and it is the part of the composition that translates best into a budget dupe. Where Tusca falls short is the base - Tom Ford's original uses a dense, slightly animalic leather accord that grows richer and darker over time, while Tusca's leather reads flatter and more one-note, missing the smoky, suede-like complexity that makes the designer version feel expensive. Performance runs four to six hours with confident initial projection, well short of the ten-plus hours the original is famous for. A fun, affordable way to sample the fruity-leather genre that Tuscan Leather popularised, without its signature richness and exceptional longevity.
