Inspired by Halfeti is Match Fragrances' budget reading of Penhaligon's 2015 Halfeti, the Christian Provenzano Halfeti black rose-saffron-oud composition that became Penhaligon's most distinctive niche signature. Match's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid: bergamot, violet, cypress and pink pepper on top, a Halfeti black rose-saffron-jasmine-lavender heart, and an amber-oud-cedarwood-leather base. The first hour is the strongest match: bergamot lifts bright with violet, cypress and pink pepper adding the green-spicy edge, and the trademark dark-rose-resinous impression arriving within minutes. By the heart the Halfeti black rose comes forward as the headline note - that distinctive dark, slightly resinous rose - with saffron, jasmine and lavender building the warm-floral middle. The dry-down trades on amber as the warm anchor with oud adding the smoked-resinous depth, cedarwood the woody backbone, and leather a quiet warm-skin support.
