About

Le Labo's Santal 33, from 2011 and composed by Frank Voelkl, turned sandalwood and leather into an everyday style. Match Fragrances' Eau de Parfum has the same silhouette. Violet and cardamom come first, a soft, spiced and slightly sweet opening that is more savoury than floral. Iris follows with a powdery cool, and papyrus adds a dry, papery feel, while ambrox gives the heart a clean, modern glow. The finish is the long part. Sandalwood and cedar make a warm, dry wood, with leather adding a faint, soft edge. It is smooth and a little smoky, never sweet. Strength is moderate and the scent stays fairly close to the skin for a few hours. It suits nearly all weather and any setting, from the office to dinner.
