Oakcha Kensho is an Extrait de Parfum. Kensho opens with Lemon and Vanilla, settles into a heart of Leather, Saffron, and Labdanum, and dries down to a base of Gurjun Balsam, Cedar, and Patchouli. Oakcha's Kensho carries a Favourite verdict, a woody-led wear.

Lemon and vanilla open onto saffron-spiced leather and labdanum, then settle into gurjum balsam, cedarwood and patchouli. A smooth, warm leather for anyone who likes a touch of sweetness. It is Oakcha's take on Regent Leather.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Kensho opens with an unexpected pairing: sharp lemon and soft vanilla side by side. The citrus gives a clean spark and the vanilla rounds it at once, so the start feels bright without turning thin. The heart is darker. Leather arrives with saffron, which adds a dry, slightly metallic spice, and labdanum brings a sticky, amber-like resin. Together they make a smooth, suede-like middle that feels warm and a little exotic. In the dry-down, gurjum balsam, cedarwood and patchouli settle into a resinous, woody base. It is earthy and calm, with a gentle sweetness left over from the vanilla at the start. At 30 to 40 percent oil, as an extrait, it clings to skin for many hours and stays fairly close, with a quiet trail. It suits cool days, evenings and smart casual settings, on anyone who likes leather with a soft edge. Oakcha no longer sells it, and its page has been removed from oakcha.com; this page records it for owners. Bottom line: a lemony, vanilla-touched leather with a balsamic wood finish.
