Ortir Apothecari Dôl is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2022. Dôl opens with Bergamot, Lemon, Grapefruit, and Mint, settles into a heart of Lavender, Geranium, and Hay, and dries down to a base of Vetiver. Ortir Apothecari's Dôl carries a Statement verdict, a woody-led wear.

A pastoral fougère: bright bergamot, grapefruit and lemon over lavender, hay and rose geranium, on earthy vetiver. Old-school and calming rather than sweet; it divides the few early voters, though one reviewer ranks it the best of the debut four.

Showing: Overall Blend

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer Autumn
Also Works:
Winter

Spring and early autumn fit best: bergamot and grapefruit over lavender and hay read as mild-weather greenery, and the earthy vetiver keeps it grounded. Summer works lightly applied; winter is the weakest. The two seasonal voters did not separate the seasons, so this reads from the notes and the stockist guidance.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual
Also Works:
Formal

A calm, old-fashioned daytime scent for the office, a walk or a quiet evening at home. It is pastoral and composed rather than seductive, so date nights and formal events are secondary.

About

Dôl is the Welsh word for meadow, and this is a fougère reimagined through a pastoral lens. Lisa Howarth grows the lavender in it herself on her West Wales farm, and the result is less a barbershop classic than a walk through grass at knee height, with sun on dry ground and rain waiting on the horizon. It opens bright and restorative on bergamot, grapefruit and Italian lemon, with a cool lift of mint. Aromatic greenery follows: lavender with a golden, earthy edge rather than a purple wash, softly swept hay, and a rounded rose geranium that keeps its green, minty character. The base settles on dusty, earthy vetiver that echoes the fields the scent is named for. Wear is a mixed picture in a very small sample: the two votes on record split between moderate and very long-lasting wear and between moderate and enormous sillage, so expect a presence rather than a whisper. Spring and early autumn suit it best, and it sits as easily at a desk as on a country walk. Reception is polarised: one reviewer calls it the best of the collection, while several of the few voters rate it low. Dôl is one of four Welsh-named eaux de parfum in the debut collection, sold at 114 pounds for 50 ml. It is for people who love traditional fougères and herbal, hay-sweet greenery, and who want an old-school, comforting feel rather than sugar. If you expect a modern woody-fresh scent, sample it first.
